I decided three weeks ago to get up earlier in the morning so I could actually put my contacts in (my allergies have been playing havoc with the continual wear idea) and put on a proper face. The first few days it was a bit of a wrench but I settled quickly to the new routine. So of course the two days, both within the last week, that circumstance saw me leave the house wearing glasses and no make up were the days I met two of the finest males I'e seen in a very long time. Funnily enough, looking as rough as I did on both occasions, neither bloke gave me a second look.
I had the pleasure of being sat in Villa Park yesterday afternoon to watch two of Martin O'Neill's new signings make their home debuts. The season for Villa started brightly - the effect of being free of David O'Leary and Deadly Doug at last, but then the same old problems reared their heads, a young small squad meant that as soon as a couple of players got injured or ill it was difficult to field a side plus subsitutes of Premiership worthy players. Now the January transfer window has been and gone we have 4 new signings. Yesterday we had the plasure of watching two (John Carew signed from Lyon and Ashley Young signed from Watford), the disappointment of watching one (Phil Bardsley thankfully only on loan from Man Utd) but no chance to see Shaun Maloney the last minute signing from Celtic.
I haven't really done anything of note, so I thought I'd just pop by and update about my reading challenge. Thank you to everyone who has recommended a book (or books) - there are some brilliant books on my list already :-D In answer to one question that was asked, I don't mind fiction or non-fiction. I tend to read mainly fiction, but the whole point of this is to expand the range of what I read.
Please keep the recommendations coming!
So how can you help? Well I'm asking everyone to recommend a book that they think I should read. I promise that I will read them before Big Ben strikes the beginning of 2008. I'm open to whatever you lot want to throw at me, so get recommending.
Thank you!
Last week was hectic so I decided not to bore everyone by writing here about it. I did want to share my joy at cooking chocolate and walnut brownies from my new Jamie Oliver book, but I wanted to include photos. I still can't get the camera sorted, so you'll just have to take my word for it that they looked good. They taste even better :-D
I absolutely can not believe that tomorrow is the start of my 4th week at work. Officially I should have been payed on Friday (they pay on the 26th or if that falls on a weekend the Friday immediately before) but due to paperwork and administrative stuff it will be sometime this week instead. Seems a bit quick to be getting money!!
